Sexy sitch: Anne Boleyn and King Henry meet up in a secluded spot in the forest, and mere seconds pass before they're naked and getting busy up against a tree. Fast, furious, moaning, intense sex follows, right up to the point where the King is about to make his royal, um, finish. That's the exact moment that Anne, following the advice that she find a way to "keep (Henry's) interest more prolonged," pushes him off of her, prompting a frustrated scream by Henry, and a hissy fit in which he throws his clothes.

Much missed since her death in 2002, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother is to be subjected to a radical new portrayal by Madonna. Mandrake can disclose that the American singer has cast an actress who appeared as Anne Boleyn in the television series The Tudors to perform the role of Queen Elizabeth in a film that she is making about the Edward VIII abdication crisis.

“This country tends to remember the Queen Mother as a rather wrinkly 97 year-old, but I am playing her when she was quite an enchanting, engaging twenty and thirtysomething,” Natalie Dormer told me. “She was quite a savage and savvy game player.”

The “Queen of Pop” is understood to be portraying Queen Elizabeth as a highly negative influence in W.E., which is sympathetic to Wallis Simpson, the twice-divorced American socialite, who caused a constitutional dilemma when the king declared his desire to marry her.

Dormer, who was speaking at a party to mark the 100th anniversary of Elizabeth Arden, the cosmetics firm patronised by Queen Elizabeth, said: “She never really spoke in public – she left it up to her husband, the king, and, therefore, even if she was a dominant force in the marriage, and a rock and forward thinker, she always let the king take the lead. She never took any credit for it.”

Madonna has long been fascinated by the 1936 crisis, which was resolved by Edward’s abdication and his succession by his brother, George VI, who was the present Queen’s father. Edward was given the title the Duke of Windsor and he married Simpson.

In May, the singer said: “People have accused Wallis of all kinds of things. They’ve said that she put a spell on Edward. They’ve said that she was a hermaphrodite and that he was gay. They’ve said they were Nazi sympathisers. It’s just the usual lynch-mob mentality that descends upon somebody who has something that lots of other people don’t have.”

Mandrake reported in March that Madonna would ask the Queen for filming on W.E. to be allowed in royal palaces.

Dormer, 28, whose ancestor is Jane Dormer, a lady in waiting to Queen Mary, is used to controversy after starring in The Tudors, which was criticised for its historical inaccuracies.

Madonna’s film has already undergone several changes. The latest is that Margo Stilley, who appeared in the sexually explicit film 9 Songs, has left. “I had the role, but we had artistic differences,” said the American actress.

Stilley added of Madonna: “She is really something. I wish the cast luck because they are all really talented.”

Maxine Peake (Criminal Justice), Rupert Penry-Jones (Spooks), Natalie Dormer (The Tudors), Tom Hughes (Sex, Drugs And Rock And Roll) and Neil Stuke (Reggie Perrin) star in Silk, a thrilling new drama series for BBC One about the lives, loves and hard cases facing barristers on the front line of criminal law, written by Bafta award-winning writer Peter Moffat (Criminal Justice, North Square).

Maxine Peake is Martha Costello, in her thirties, single, passionate and a defence barrister applying for silk. Innocent until proven guilty are four words she lives by. But how does this fundamental principle stand up to examination by clients who are sometimes good, sometimes bad and sometimes evil?

Martha is faced with challenging cases and surprising clients. Her beliefs and prejudices, her conscience and her faith in the criminal justice system are tested to the limit over the course of the series.

Former barrister Peter Moffat makes a return to BBC One, providing an insider’s view into this exciting, morally complex, highly-charged world.

Peter says: “Silk is based on my experience at the bar. I want to tell it as it really is. The extreme pressure, the hard choices, the ethical dilemmas, the overlap between the personal and the professional, principles fought for and principles sacrificed, the Machiavellian politics, the sex, the drinking, the whole story – life at the bar is the richest possible drama territory.”

Joining Martha is Clive Reader, played by Rupert Penry-Jones. He’s funny, gifted and dangerous. The same age as Martha, they’re called to the bar together. Both are applying for silk – how they perform in court is vital to this process and Clive knows how to play the game.

Neil Stuke plays Billy, the senior clerk at Martha’s chambers. He is dedicated to Martha, even if secretly he believes that she hasn’t got a chance of being made a QC.

Nick Slade, played by Tom Hughes is Martha’s pupil. Niamh Cranitch (Natalie Dormer) is assigned to Clive. Both are thrown in at the deep end and, as “baby barristers”, must sink or swim. Only one pupil will be taken on as a member of chambers at the end of the series. Who will it be and why? And how will Martha and Clive influence the outcome?

Silk was commissioned by Jay Hunt, Controller, BBC One and Ben Stephenson, BBC Controller of Drama Commissioning. The executive producer is Hilary Salmon (Criminal Justice, Five Days).

Silk is directed (episodes 1 & 2) by Michael Offer (The Passion, Moses Jones) and is produced by Cameron Roach (Life On Mars, Moses Jones).

The new six-part drama will commence filming in July. Silk will follow in the footsteps of successful BBC dramas such as Criminal Justice, Five Daughters and Luther.

Arte a annoncé tout récemment qu'il diffuserait la saison 2 de The Tudors chaque mardi au environ de 20h35. La saison débutera le 7 septembre et prendra fin le 5 octobre.

La saison 1 de The Tudors sera rediffusé sur Arte, à partir du 3 août, à raison de 2 épisodes semaines aux environs de 20h35.

Sur Canal +, la saison 3 prendra fin le 2 août.

Le coffret DVD de la saison 4 The Tudors sortira, le 12 octobre prochain, en zone 1. Ce coffret de 4 disques comprendra les 10 épisodes de la dernière saison de la série. Il ne seront disponible qu'en Anglais et en Espagnol. De plus, en bonus, vous pourrez visionner l'épisode 1 et 2 de la saison 2 de United States of Tara.

Henry Cavill vient de décrocher le rôle principal The Cold Light Day, un thriller dans lequel la famille d’un jeune trader de Wall Street est enlevée alors qu’il est en vacances en Espagne. Celui-ci se retrouve alors mêlé à une conspiration gouvernementale et va devoir affronter les secrets de son père pour sauver sa famille.

Le film sera réalisé par Mabrouk El Mechri (JCVD) et le tournage débutera le 6 septembre prochain en Espagne.
